Mexico's clean energy commitment could be boon to U.S. companies

Besides signing the Kyoto Protocol, Mexico is also mandated by the environmental standards in the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) to take ambitious steps to reduce its global warming pollution. The result is lucrative business opportunities for U.S. firms exporting the technology to the south.

Wind power is expected to expand, along with Mexico's good geothermal resources.
Mexican businesses are also capitalizing on the entrepreneurial effort to meet Kyoto standards, including the financing and marketing of renewable energy projects, in addition to development.
