Electric Cars by 2010? Only in Japan.

Here's the most promising electric car news I've heard yet. Mitsubishi Motors and several Japanese utilities are studying the feasibility of commercializing electric vehicles. By the end of the decade.

A spokesman for the car maker said they plan to stretch the driving range of the vehicles to 100 miles. But they'll have to work with utilities on recharging stations and other infrastructure needs.
TEPCO, Japan's largest electric utility, plans to begin switching over about 3,000 of its in-house cars to electric vehicles beginning April 2007.
