Making waves in Oregon

Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski recently announced the nation's first commercial wave energy project will be built near Reedsport, OR. Ocean Power Technologies has received a preliminary permit to develop the project, and will be working with local governments and nonprofits from around the state on the project.

The Oregon Innovation Council recently proposed $5.2 million in state funding to jumpstart OregonÂ’s wave energy sector, and Governor Kulongoski plans to introduce legislation next year to further develop Oregon's renewable energy technologies. He wants the state to get 25% of its electricity from renewables by the year 2025, and create more incentives for renewable energy businesses to locate to Oregon.

Bravo, Oregonians!
