Pumpkin Power

Here's a timely one. Pumkpin seed oil and palm oil could be the next fuel to power mobile phone networks across Africa. Starting in Nigeria, these locally grown crops will fuel stations not able to connect to the power grid, and will help decrease the dependence on fossil fuels.

Reuters reports that Sweden-based Ericsson and South African cellphone operator MTN, together with a grant from the GSM Association's development fund, will begin the project in Nigeria but hope to expand soon to Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya.
