The test phase will take place in a vacant community near the town of Playas, which is owned by New Mexico Tech.

GE Global Research is partnering with New Mexico Tech to develop energy-efficient communities. These residential and commercial areas will use renewable energy like solar power, particular electrical distribution, and super-efficient architecture to meet their own power needs and even produce enough electricity to feed back onto the grid.
