The American Wind Energy Association reports on government subsidies for wind power and the minuscule amount of assistance the sector receives compared to fossil fuels.
- PepsiCo has committed to buying 100 percent green power. That's more than 1.1 billion kilowatt-hours - enough energy to power 90,000 homes for a year. It is the largest purchase to date under the U.S.'s Environmental Protection Agency's Green Power Partner program.
- Wal-Mart has produced a video highlighting energy efficiency as central to their sustainable living practices. In this video, a Wal-Mart efficiency expert helps a motorsports garage owner green his space. Wal-Mart seems to be showing real leadership on energy, although we should keep a critical eye out for green-washing.
