Terminology Tuesday: Silver Bullet

The term "silver bullet" is used often in energy debates. Some ask, "What is the silver bullet to solving our energy problems? To solving global warming? To making us energy independent?"

The unfortunate answer is that there is no silver bullet. No single technology or action is going to slow global warming, make our energy cleaner or cheaper, or get us off foreign oil. Rather, it must be a series of silver BBs that will move us in the right direction: Better fuel efficiency standards for cars, massive amounts of renewable energy added to our electrical system and biofuels are just some of the changes we have to see in order to solve our energy problems.
